Year 2 to Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

 

If you are going to be in Year 3 next year, I bet you have lots of questions. Have a look at the information all about being a Year 3 below. Hopefully it will answer most of your questions!

'What will we be learning about?'

'What will be the same when I am in Year 3?'

  • You will still do Early Bird Maths first in the morning.

  • You will still go for the Daily Mile every day.

  • You will still go to Assembly on Monday and Friday.

  • You will still have break time and lunch time every day.

  • You will still have PE every week.

  • You will still do Maths and English and have different topics each term.

 

 

'What will be different when I am in Year 3?'

 

  • Your teacher will be Miss Roberts or Miss Unsworth.
  • Your new classroom is upstairs. You will use the Year 3 and 4 stairs to get there.
  • You will be playing on the KS2 yard at break time and at lunch.
  • You won't have free milk and fruit in KS2 but you can still buy it from the Snack Trolley every playtime. It is 20p.
  • You will start to learn Spanish! Hola!
  • You will start to learn to play a brass instrument like a trumpet, a cornet or a trombone!
  • You will do Food Technology.
  • You will have reading, times tables and spellings for your homework every week.
  • You will be able to join some different after school clubs now you are in KS2. 

 

 

 

 

A typical day in Year 3 looks a bit like this…

 

8.50am      Early Bird Maths

9.10am      Whole Class Reading

10am         Break time

10.15am     Maths

11.10am     English

12pm         Lunch

1pm           Topic lessons like Geography, History, Spanish, PE,                        Music, Art and DT. We also do the Daily Mile at some                    point in the afternoon.

2.45pm      Story

3.05pm      Home time
