Year 1 Home Learning planning and resources (w/b 4.5.20)
This week we are focusing on VE Day, which is on Friday 8th May. When VE Day dawns it will be 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the World War II in Europe. The 75th anniversary will provide us with an opportunity to reflect on the enormous sacrifice, courage and determination of people from all walks of life who saw us through this dark and terrifying period.
There were lots of events scheduled across the country to commemorate this special day (including moving a bank holiday!) but, as with everything else, Covid-19 has meant that most events have been cancelled or postponed. As a school, we feel that it is important to learn and understand the significance of VE Day, so have centred our home learning tasks around it, culminating in a ‘stay at home street party’ on VE Day itself.
Alongside your child's home learning activities this week, you will also find an "optional" activity pack and further resources all about VE Day.
As always, thank you for your continued support! We hope you all have a great week and enjoy fining out about VE Day.
