Year 2 Home Learning Planning and Resources (w/b 4.5.20)
This week, on Friday 8th May, it will be 75 years since the guns fell silent at the end of World War II in Europe. This is known as VE Day (Victory in Europe Day). The 75th anniversary will provide us with an opportunity to reflect on the enormous sacrifice, courage and determination of people from all walks of life who saw us through this dark and terrifying period.
There were lots of events scheduled across the country to commemorate this special day (including moving a bank holiday!) but, as with everything else, Covid-19 has meant that most events have been cancelled or postponed. As a school, we feel that it is important to learn and understand the significance of VE Day.
Alongside your child's home learning activities this week, you will find information about this event, as well as an "optional" activity pack and further resources all about VE Day.
Please feel free to have a go at some of these with your child and help them learn about this momentous day.
