P.E.

At Royton Hall Primary School, we are committed to providing all our children with the opportunity to discover and enhance their physical talents through high quality physical education and sports. In school, we focus on the development of skills across the year groups in order to equip children with the confidence and ability to compete and enjoy school sports, competitions throughout the school year and leading a healthy lifestyle.

As a well-equipped and confident staff we are able to provide at least 2 hours’ physical education a week covering all of the national curriculum strands from Nursery to Year 6. We also promote the importance of staff development by enlisting the help of other sporting professionals. Over the academic year each teacher is given two opportunities to work alongside a fully trained Sports Development coach to assist teachers in providing high quality P.E sessions.

As a school we acknowledge the importance of making links with local sports clubs. This year we are working alongside coaches from Oldham Athletic to deliver skills sessions to ignite children’s passion and interest in developing their ability and skills to represent other clubs and organisations.

Outside of the curriculum we provide the opportunity for children to compete against other clubs by competing in local competitions every two weeks against schools in the local area and a number of competitions through Oldham School Sports where they are given the opportunity to progress to compete against other schools nationally.
