Homework
Homework is an essential part of your child’s learning journey and this year we are focusing on these 3 key skills. Just a little time spent practising every day can really make a huge difference.
- Reading book to be read daily. Please ensure that your child’s Reading Record book is signed each time you hear them read at home and is brought in to school every day. Children who read daily and have their reading record signed will be given a book raffle ticket, enabling them to earn up to 5 raffle tickets per week. The raffle will be drawn every Friday during assembly and the winning children will be presented with a brand new book!
- Times Tables. It is important for children to be able to recall all times tables facts to 12x12 by the end of Year 4 so we will be working really hard on those this year. Times Tables Rockstars is an incredibly useful and engaging tool to help your child develop quicker recall of these facts so please encourage use at home! Login details can be found on the back of your child’s Reading Record.
- Spellings will be given out on a Friday and tested the following Friday. Children will be sent home with a list of words in their Reading Records. Spellings will have a specific spelling pattern that will be taught to your child that week. Some weeks the spellings will be taken from a statutory list of words that your child will need to know by the end of Year 4. These words can also be found in your child’s Reading Record book to help with further support at home.
