Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium funding is allocated to schools based on the number of pupils who have had access to Free School Meals during the time they are in our school. The school then uses this additional fund to support the learning and wellbeing of its pupils.
The main barriers to educational achievement vary and may include:-
- Lack of confidence and or lack of motivation to learn
- Social and cultural barriers such as difficulty to interact with peers
- Low self-esteem and children thinking they are 'not good enough'
- Personal issues such as changes in home life and relationships such as divorce, bereavement, new adult in the home
- Financial difficulties in the family
- Housing challenges e.g. overcrowding, distance from school, public transport etc.
- Learning difficulties or learning impairments
- Practical issues such as English as an additional language
The intended expenditure for our Pupil Premium Funding is in our strategy. This is measured at the end of the academic year. The data for the achievement of Pupil Premium children for phonics, reading, writing and maths is measured against the data of other PP nationally as well as comparing with non PP pupils. The intention is to ensure that the progress of both groups is consistently good and the gap is narrow between the groups.
Some areas of progress and targets cannot be measured in terms of numbers and percentages such as the improvement in a child's confidence or self-esteem. However, this can be measured internally via teacher observations, parents observations and the pupils own voice.
