British Science Week
Throughout the school, the children fully immersed themselves in British Science Week 2018.
In Year 1, they explored 4 different habitats (pond, forest, desert and under the sea). The children were split into teams and given a basket of animals each, they then had to work together to put the right animal in the right habitat.
In Year 3/4, they were exploring hygiene and discovering the dirtiest place in the school. They used a 'control' piece of bread with nothing done to it, a piece of bread passed around with dirty hands, another passed around with washed hands and then the final piece which had been swabbed with bacteria from various places around the school. They then made daily observations to see which piece grows the most mould.
In Year 6, the children had a competition to build the most durable bridge made out of paper. They were given 5 pieces of paper and some sellotape and had 8 minutes to build their structure. They were then tested to see how much weight they could hold.
