British Science Week
11th - 20th March 2022
The theme for British Science Week this year is 'Growth'.
In Year 2 we have already been investigating what plants need to grow, and carefully observing the germination of a bean.
During British Science Week, we discovered that Queen Elizabeth II also loves all things green! As part of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations, The Queen is inviting everyone to 'plant a tree for the Jubilee' in a special project called 'The Queen's Green Canopy'. As scientists, we studied how trees grow from tiny saplings and investigated how important it is to protect and care for them so that they can grow tall and strong. We found out why trees are good for our health and the environment, and explored the importance of trees for wildlife.
We also investigated how our bodies grow as we get older, and tested our measuring skills by conducting an experiment to find out which materials could stretch the furthest - including super stretchy slime!
We all had great fun exploring growth and investigating all things stretchy!
